ABOUT VALUES
By Pierre Mouchette | Bits-n-Pieces
Values are fundamental beliefs that guide and motivate our behavior and actions.  They help us to determine what is essential to us.  Values describe the personal qualities we embody to guide our actions, the person we want to be, how we treat ourselves and others, and our interaction with the world around us.  They provide general guidelines for conduct.
Values are good, desirable, and worthwhile – they are the motive behind our purposeful actions and are the ends to which we act.  Personal values are beliefs about right and wrong that may or may not be considered moral.  Religions or societies accept cultural values and reflect what is essential in each context.

Values are essential to ethics – they are concerned with our actions and the choice of those actions.  Ethics evaluate these actions and the values that are underlying them.  It determines which values should be pursued and which should not.  Courage is one of those values where those who believe in courage are willing to stand up for their beliefs, even in the face of strong condemnation.  Courage is a moral value when it deals with right and wrong behavior.

Value specifies a relationship between a person and a goal – it relates in the sense that what one person values may not be what another person values even in the same situation.
For example, a person who values honesty might blow the whistle on financial wrongdoing by a superior.  In contrast, another person who values loyalty may remain silent (an example of value conflict).  The honest person may believe loyalty has limits, and keeping quiet about a wrongful act out of loyalty might harm others.  The loyal person may believe in the importance of keeping one's confidence even if it might hurt others because of the trusting relationship.

Values stand up well over time – they are consistently excellent or rightful behavior.  Honesty and kindness are two such examples.  It is not easy to imagine a fulfilling relationship without them because they build trust in relationships.  There are always exceptions, but they are rare.

How have you shown your value as a human person today?

Dementia is a loss of thinking, memory, and reasoning that affects daily activities.  It is common in older adults.  However, a group of dementias called frontotemporal disorders, or FTD, occurs most often in people between 45 and 64 years old.  So, if you start to see changes in how a loved one under 60 acts, speaks, or moves, you may not think of dementia as a cause.
FTD sometimes runs in families and can be inherited through specific genes.  But in most cases, the cause is not known.

Alopecia causes itchiness and discomfort and can negatively impact your dog's appearance and feelings.  Because hair loss can worsen over time, especially if your dog scratches their skin open, it is essential to get your vet involved immediately.

The vet can help to identify what is causing your dog’s alopecia so you can get them the best treatment and maximize their chances of a full recovery.

Balance Disorders
By Pierre Mouchette | Bits-n-Pieces
What is a balance disorder?
A balance disorder is a condition that makes you feel unsteady or dizzy.  If you are standing, sitting, or lying down, you might feel like you are moving, spinning, or floating.  If you are walking, you might suddenly feel as if you are tipping over.
Everyone has a dizzy spell now and then, but “dizziness” can mean different things to different people.  For one person, dizziness might mean a fleeting feeling of faintness, while for another, it could be an intense sensation of spinning (vertigo) that lasts a long time.
Certain health conditions, medications, or problems in the inner ear or the brain can cause balance disorders.  A balance disorder can profoundly affect daily activities and cause psychological and emotional hardship.

What are the symptoms of a balance disorder?
If you have a balance disorder, your symptoms might include the following:
  • Blurred vision.
  • Confusion or disorientation.
  • Dizziness or vertigo (a spinning sensation).
  • Falling or feeling as if you are going to fall.
  • Lightheadedness, faintness, or a floating sensation.
  • Staggering when you try to walk.
Other symptoms might include nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, heart rate and blood pressure changes, and fear, anxiety, or panic.  Symptoms may come and go over short periods or last for a long time, leading to fatigue and depression.

I am looking forward to a much brighter fourth quarter than what we had in the past three.  To date, 2023 will enter the history books as one of toil on all people.  This toil included natural disasters, man-made disasters, and a complete state of induced chaos.  It is happening here in the U.S. and globally.

One Only Has To Open A U.S. Daily Paper To See The Headlines:

U.S. Weather Disasters - severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, hail, severe rain, flooding, and heat.

Disasters:  Canadian Wildfires (in northern Canada between Fort Smith and Hay River, N.W.T., and northern Alberta) and the Maui Wildfires in Hawaii.

Homicides - this is when people intentionally and illegally kill others.  They are a most serious crime and are a common cause of death globally and a leading cause of death in some countries.  They not only rob the victims of their lives but also hurt the victims’ families and friends, harm the community, and may burden the perpetrators themselves, leading to their imprisonment or execution.

Human Destruction - Russian-Ukraine War; Civil War; Terrorist Insurgency; Political Unrest; Ethnic Violence

And these are the significant headings with so much more mayhem under other titles.
