Did You Know?

As of January 1 of this year (2022), Connecticut's Paid Family and Medical Leave Act will pay its first benefits.  All workers who meet the minimum thresholds for income and time worked can receive up to $780 a week or up to $900 a week after June 1, 2023.
This benefit, called the Paid Family and Medical Leave Act (PFMLA), provides up to 12 weeks a year to welcome a new child, recover from an illness or care for a sick family member.  The leave can be taken in blocks, as a reduced work schedule or periodically for necessities created by the illness (doctor appointments, rehab therapy, and more).
The 0.5 percent payroll tax funds the program you noticed deducted from your pay.
For more information on the PFMLA, you can surf their website

Note:  we will also provide more information on this in an upcoming TSI DIGITAL DIGEST.
