Zoonoses are infectious diseases caused by bacteria, viruses and parasites that spread between animals and humans. These diseases can be transmitted through contact with bodily fluids, touching and/or petting, through bites and scratches, inhalation, and through mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas. Especially susceptible are young children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems are at high risk.
